Ulaanbaatar: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has urged the transformation of transport routes into economic corridors to facilitate the connection of Central Asia with global markets through Pakistan. He emphasized this initiative during the 25th Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Ministerial Conference held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
According to Radio Pakistan, Minister Iqbal highlighted the importance of establishing logistics and production hubs along these routes. He proposed the development of facilities such as cold storage, packaging, warehousing, and light manufacturing, aiming to convert transit traffic into exports. This transformation is expected to generate employment and economic opportunities for local communities.
Furthermore, Iqbal advocated for the creation of a digital corridor throughout the CAREC region. He pointed out that the Pakistan Single Window provides a foundational step towards digital integration with regional partners, which could enhance trade and connectivity in the area.
