2 cases of monkeypox confirmed in Pakistan, Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has alerted the health department –

Lahore, April 27, 2023 (PPI-OT): Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi has alerted the health department after the confirmation of 2 monkeypox patients in Pakistan and isolation wards have been established for monkeypox patients in all district headquarters hospitals of Punjab. It has been decided to give special training to doctors and medical staff.

A special ministerial committee has been formed in view of the possible threat of monkeypox on the instructions of caretaker chief minister Mohsin Naqvi. And Secondary Health Dr. Jamal Nasir, Provincial Education Minister Mansoor Qadir and concerned secretaries will be involved.

The committee will regularly review the situation regarding smallpox. Department of Primary and Secondary Health Care will set up a hotline or WhatsApp number for the convenience of the public. High level on Zoom today at Punjab House Islamabad under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

A meeting was held, in which preventive measures and preventive measures to prevent monkey pox were reviewed. During the briefing, it was informed that monkey pox has been confirmed in 2 travelers coming from abroad in Pakistan. Other passengers of the flight will be traced with the help of Civil Aviation, NCOC and other concerned agencies.

The NADRA database will also help in tracing the passengers. The briefing said that monkeypox can be spread by shaking hands, hugging or using the patient’s clothes. It is possible to prevent the virus by wearing a mask and washing hands. Elderly and children can easily fall victim to monkeypox. Monkeypox virus can be diagnosed by PCR test.

Monkeypox cases have been reported in 111 countries worldwide. Provincial Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Dr. Javed Akram, Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Dr. Jamal Nasir, Chief Secretary, concerned.
