Quetta: The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, supported by the European Union, concluded a workshop on October 4 aimed at enhancing collaboration between investigators and prosecutors in Balochistan. The event is part of the Deliver Justice Project, which seeks to strengthen the cooperation between law enforcement and judicial authorities in the region.
According to United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the workshop brought together members from the Balochistan Police, Levies, and Prosecution Department to address obstacles hindering effective collaboration in criminal investigations and legal processes. It builds on previous initiatives to establish a unified approach for police and levies investigators to work closely with prosecutors, enhancing the quality and efficiency of trials.
The workshop featured the endorsement of new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) tailored to improve coordination before legal submissions. These SOPs are intended to ensure thorough investigations and meticulous case preparations, facilitating smoother legal proceedings. This recent gathering marks the latest in a series of training and development sessions held in Gwadar, Naseerabad, and Quetta over the past two years, all contributing to a sustained effort to bolster institutional collaboration.
With ongoing support from the European Union, the UNODC is committed to promoting a more robust and cooperative criminal justice system in Balochistan, which is crucial for maintaining law and order in the province.
