ISLAMABAD: The United States has acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions to maintaining peace and stability in the region, as revealed during discussions between Paul Kapur, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, and Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi.
According to Radio Pakistan, Kapur and Naqvi held talks in Islamabad, focusing on bilateral relations and the ongoing situation in the Middle East. The discussions also covered potential areas for increased cooperation, particularly in security, counter-terrorism, and anti-narcotics efforts.
During the meeting, Naqvi expressed Pakistan’s hope for a lasting and peaceful resolution to the Middle East conflict. He highlighted the strong foundation of mutual trust and bilateral cooperation that underpins the relationship between Pakistan and the United States, noting it has strengthened during the tenure of President Donald Trump.
Naqvi also emphasized the Pakistani government’s commitment to ensuring comprehensive security for U.S. companies involved in the Reko Diq project. Additionally, he expressed the government’s desire for the early initiation of direct flights between Pakistan and the United States.
