Islamabad: Two members of a notorious snatcher gang were arrested by the Islamabad Police, marking a significant breakthrough in efforts to curb street crime in the capital. The arrests, carried out by the Sabzi Mandi police team, were facilitated by the use of both technical and human resources, leading to the recovery of stolen motorbikes, cash, mobile phones, and weapons.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the apprehended individuals are implicated in numerous incidents of bike lifting and snatching. The operation resulted in the recovery of three stolen motorbikes along with other valuables. Cases had already been registered against the accused, and further investigation is underway to uncover additional links and prevent future crimes.
Deputy Inspector General of Islamabad, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, emphasized ongoing efforts to combat motorcycle theft and street robbery in the city. The initiatives have reportedly led to a decline in such crimes across the federal capital. Tariq has urged officers to maintain momentum in the crackdown and ensure that offenders are held accountable. He also called on citizens to aid the police by reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest station or via the emergency helpline “Pucar-15.”
