ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani emphasized the fundamental role women play in the progress, prosperity, and stability of society in his message for International Women’s Day. Gilani highlighted the successes of Pakistani women across various fields and called for continued efforts to ensure their equal participation in national development.

According to Senate of Pakistan, Gilani praised the achievements of Pakistani women in politics, economy, education, health, and social services, noting that they have brought pride to the nation. He underlined the shared responsibility of the state and society in providing equal opportunities and a dignified environment for women. He also acknowledged the legislative efforts by Parliament to safeguard women’s rights and promote education, economic empowerment, and social inclusion.

Gilani paid tribute to prominent figures such as Fatima Jinnah, Begum Ra’ana Liaquat Ali Khan, and Benazir Bhutto for their leadership and contributions to Pakistan’s development. He highlighted the role of the Pakistan Peoples Party in advocating for women’s rights and political representation. Gilani called for more effective measures to promote women’s education and economic independence, stressing that empowering women is crucial for building a prosperous and stable Pakistan.
