Two Detained in Maharashtra for Alleged Involvement in Religious Conversion Case

Mumbai: A recent police action in Maharashtra has led to the arrest of two individuals, a woman and another person, on charges related to an alleged case of religious conversion.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the arrests were made following a complaint lodged at Vithalwadi police station by a woman who claimed her daughter was converted to Islam under suspicious circumstances. The incident reportedly took place in Ulhasnagar, Thane district, while the complainant was in London in June 2022. The complaint outlines that the daughter was influenced by Islamic preacher videos and a neighboring family, leading her to renounce Hinduism. After her conversion, she allegedly went missing, and a letter from the Ulhasnagar and Ambernath Masjid Trust was later found confirming her new religious affiliation.

The situation escalated when it was discovered that the daughter had withdrawn money from her father’s account post-conversion. The mother expressed fears that her daughter might have been coerced or manipulated into illegal activities, prompting the police intervention and subsequent arrests.
