Islamabad: Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, paid tribute to the Pakistan Navy’s martyrs and veterans on Navy Day, recognizing their pivotal role in defending the nation’s maritime boundaries and national sovereignty. He highlighted the Navy’s courage and professional excellence, particularly during the 1965 war, and emphasized its ongoing importance for the country’s economic and security interests.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, Sadiq commemorated the historical significance of Operation Dwarka during the 1965 war, where the Pakistan Navy targeted enemy coastal installations and radar facilities. He also praised the submarine PNS Ghazi for its operational effectiveness in maintaining pressure on enemy naval movements. The speaker acknowledged the strategic importance of maritime routes to Pakistan’s economy and security and commended the Navy’s dedication under the leadership of Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf.

Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah also paid tribute, underscoring the courage and patriotism shown by the Navy during the 1965 war. Shah echoed the importance of Operation Dwarka and emphasized the role of the Navy in Marka-e-Haq for safeguarding national security. Both leaders called for remembrance of the sacrifices made by Navy personnel, expressing prayers for the martyrs and the nation’s prosperity.
