Jammu: Intense windstorms and heavy rainfall have caused significant damage across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, affecting infrastructure and daily life in multiple districts.
Reports from Kashmir Media Service indicate that Jammu and Udhampur were among the hardest-hit regions. In Jammu, strong winds led to the collapse of a portion of the Civil Secretariat’s boundary wall. The fallen wall, entangled with barbed wire, damaged several vehicles parked nearby.
In Udhampur, uprooted trees caused road blockages, severely disrupting traffic flow. Additionally, the storm led to power outages in several localities, compounding the challenges faced by residents.
The Kashmir Valley was not spared from the adverse weather. In Bandipora’s SK Payeen area, a fire broke out, destroying three residential houses. The fire, which began in a single home, quickly spread to neighboring structures, intensified by a gas cylinder explosion. Firefighters managed to control the blaze after a strenuous effort.
These weather-related incidents have highlighted the vulnerability of infrastructure and the urgent need for preparedness in the region. Authorities are assessing the damage and working to restore normalcy.
