Islamabad: The Senate has recently passed significant legislation aimed at amending election laws and enhancing local government operations in Islamabad. The legislative session saw the approval of “The Election (Amendment) Bill, 2024” and “The Islamabad Capital Territory Local Government (Amendment) Bill, 2024,” which are set to implement substantial changes in electoral processes and governance structures.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the session also introduced “The Banking Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2024” and “The Deposit Protection Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2024.” Following the introductions, the chair of the session delegated the bills to the respective Standing Committees for further examination and deliberation.
These legislative efforts reflect ongoing efforts to refine governance and bolster democratic processes in the capital territory, aligning with broader national objectives for administrative and electoral reform.
