Quetta: Residents and businesses in Quetta will experience scheduled power outages over the next week as the Quetta Electric Supply Company (KESCO) undertakes crucial development and maintenance work on the city’s power infrastructure. The planned outages, aimed at enhancing the reliability of electricity supply, will affect multiple areas across the city on specific dates and times detailed by the company.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the power interruptions are scheduled to accommodate the installation and relocation of poles, as well as repair work on a major transmission line. On September 19 and September 21, various regions in Quetta connected to the Quetta City Grid Station, Sariab Grid Station, and Sheikh Manda Grid Station will experience temporary power cuts as detailed in the schedule. For instance, areas such as Surajganj Bazaar, Shahbaz Town, and Jinnah Town will have no electricity from 10 am to 2 pm on both days. Similarly, other localities including Hazara Town, Industrial area, and Old Satellite Town will face outages from 9 am to 3 pm.
Furthermore, additional regions powered by Kuchlak Grid Station and 220Kv Industrial Grid Station will also undergo power suspensions. For example, localities like DHA, Wali, and New Mian Ghandi will have their electricity supply halted from 10 am to 3 pm on the same dates. The comprehensive power cut schedule is part of KESCO’s larger effort to ensure a stable power supply across Quetta.
The utility company has also planned a complete shutdown of the Sahabpur grid station on September 19 from 9 am to 2 pm to facilitate urgent repairs on the 132 kV transmission line, affecting all feeders connected to this station. Recognizing the inconvenience caused by these disruptions, KESCO has issued an apology and requested the cooperation of all affected customers during the maintenance period.
Residents and businesses are advised to prepare for these power outages by making necessary arrangements. KESCO’s proactive communication efforts aim to minimize the impact on daily activities and ensure safety as they upgrade and maintain the city’s power infrastructure.
