Islamabad: The Federal Minister for Board of Investment, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, met with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker on Thursday in Islamabad. The discussions focused on enhancing Pakistan-U.S. bilateral relations, exploring economic cooperation, and identifying investment opportunities to foster greater business engagement between the two nations.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting was attended by senior officials of the Board of Investment, including Secretary Jameel Ahmad Qureshi and Additional Secretary Zulfiqar Ali. Federal Minister Sheikh highlighted the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and the United States, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in various sectors such as trade, technology, energy, and healthcare. He also mentioned his upcoming participation in the World Economic Forum’s Sustainable Development Impact Meetings in New York, aiming to promote Pakistan’s investment potential on a global stage.

Both parties discussed ways to strengthen economic ties, with Sheikh noting the significant opportunities available in sectors like mining, energy, and agriculture. He assured that Pakistan is open to international investment, aiming to facilitate industrialization and economic growth. Sheikh also expressed appreciation for Baker’s diplomatic efforts and announced plans to host a dinner in her honor to recognize her contributions.

The absence of a bilateral investment treaty was a point of discussion, with both sides acknowledging the need for economic engagement and business cooperation. The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue dialogue on investment facilitation and enhancing economic relations between Pakistan and the United States.
