Punjab Police Resolves Over 78,000 Complaints Through 1787 IGP Complaint Centre

Lahore: Punjab Police announced the successful resolution of more than 78,000 complaints this year through the 1787 IGP Complaint Centre, a key initiative designed to address citizens’ grievances. The Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, noted that these complaints are being resolved within a set timeline, adhering to established standard operating procedures. The monitoring mechanism has been enhanced to improve the effectiveness of the complaint centre, with District Police Officers (DPOs) personally overseeing the prompt handling of complaints.

According to Punjab Police, significant strides have been made in addressing complaints across various categories. This includes resolving 37,527 complaints related to case registrations and 17,638 complaints concerning delays in investigations. Additionally, 6,020 complaints regarding police services and 17,754 departmental and other complaints have been addressed. Moreover, the centre resolved 3,908 complaints about the arrest of accused individuals, 5,999 related to recoveries, and 3,749 concerning faulty investigations. Furthermore, 1,819 complaints about the cancellation of false cases and 1,336 related to changes in investigations were also rectified. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem has urged citizens to approach the 1787 IGP Complaint Centre without hesitation for any grievances against police officials.
