Islamabad, The Inspector General of Police in Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, presided over a detailed review meeting to evaluate the performance of the Tahaffuz markaz in Sialkot at the Central Police Office. During the meeting, significant strides made by the center in extending crucial services to diverse segments of society were presented.
According to a news release by Punjab Police, officials, including the DPO of Sialkot and the In-charge Protection Center, provided an account of the center’s accomplishments over the past seven months. Dr. Usman Anwar also personally met with the staff of the Tahaffuz markaz in Sialkot to gauge their performance first-hand.
The briefing revealed that the Tahaffuz markaz in Sialkot had rendered considerable assistance since its inception. It has notably aided 114 transgenders and 132 individuals with physical and mental challenges. Moreover, the center played a pivotal role in the rehabilitation of 32 individuals previously struggling with drug addiction; these individuals have since been reintegrated into society. Additionally, eight transgenders were empowered with driving licenses, and various essentials were distributed among them.
For visually impaired citizens, the Tahaffuz markaz ensured the provision of blind sticks, specialized watches, spectacles, and financial aid. The center also facilitated 125 special individuals with wheelchairs, offered treatment for the children of police officers with special needs, and efficiently managed the safe handover of a kidnapped Brazilian girl to her country’s embassy. In the realm of administrative assistance, the markaz extended services like character certification, police verifications, and registrations to approximately 2,000 individuals.
Further showcasing their commitment to societal well-being, the Tahaffuz markaz entered into agreements with ten prominent institutions and hospitals. These partnerships, which include entities like Darul Aman, District Bar Association, Child Protection Bureau, and Sundus Foundation, aim to furnish social security and vital aid to individuals navigating challenging circumstances.
