Chairman Senate Gilani Emphasizes National Unity on Youm-e-Takbeer

Islamabad: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani extended congratulations to the nation on Youm-e-Takbeer, marking May 28 as a pivotal day in Pakistan’s history when the country established itself as a nuclear power. Gilani highlighted the day as a representation of national pride, sovereignty, and defensive strength.

According to Press Information Department, Gilani’s message underscored the significance of Youm-e-Takbeer as not only a historical event but a symbol of unity and determination. He paid tribute to the political and military leadership, scientists, and engineers who contributed to the nuclear program, particularly acknowledging former Prime Ministers Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for their roles in advancing Pakistan’s strategic capabilities.

Gilani also recognized the leadership of former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif during the 1998 nuclear tests, which he described as a demonstration of Pakistan’s resolve to protect its sovereignty despite international pressures. He stressed the need for a similar spirit of unity to address current economic and regional challenges.

The Chairman Senate called on the younger generation to engage in education and technology to strengthen the nation further. He concluded by praying for Pakistan’s safety and prosperity on the global stage.
