Islamabad: Pakistan has paid tribute to the contributions and sacrifices of the “Blue Helmets” on the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, acknowledging their role in promoting global peace.
According to Radio Pakistan, the ISPR highlighted Pakistan’s long-standing association with UN peacekeeping, which spans over six decades. Since 1960, more than 237,000 Pakistani peacekeepers have participated in UN missions globally, with 183 losing their lives in the line of duty. Currently, Pakistani peacekeepers are deployed in challenging environments such as the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO), South Sudan (UNMISS), and the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), engaging in a range of operations from military activities to tackling climate-related issues.
The ISPR reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to the objectives of UN Peacekeeping by investing in peace through human resources, advanced training, and capacity building. It emphasized the need for ongoing global cooperation to achieve lasting peace and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to international stability and humanitarian relief under the UN flag.
