Lahore, In a significant move to enhance facilities in rural areas, the Punjab government has decided to distribute loader rickshaws to Union Councils under the Sathra Punjab program, aiming to mirror urban conveniences in the countryside.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the decision was announced during a video conference led by Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman, involving Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners. The meeting reviewed implementation strategies for the Sathra Punjab program and broader governance improvements.
Chief Secretary Zaman emphasized the program’s priority status, instructing that all resources be mobilized to ensure its success. The discussion also touched on the performance of regional administrative officers, with plans to assess and rank districts based on daily evaluations.
Additionally, concerns about public health issues such as stray dog incidents and the availability of anti-rabies vaccines were addressed, with directives issued to fortify hospital supplies. The meeting concluded with a briefing on food pricing, particularly bread, highlighting successful efforts in regions like DG Khan and Rajanpur to maintain lower prices compared to other divisions.
