Islamabad: A delegation of Chairpersons from nine Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) in Punjab visited the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) in Islamabad to explore its advanced examination and assessment practices, focusing on digitalization and technology integration.

According to Press Information Department, Dr. Ikram Ali Malik, the Chairman of FBISE, along with the Secretary FBISE and other department heads, welcomed the delegation. The visit facilitated a platform for the exchange of knowledge and best practices between the FBISE and Punjab Boards. The delegation was informed about FBISE’s examination system, which includes Test Development, Test Administration, and Test Evaluation, all supported by modern IT solutions. The presentation emphasized the board’s data-informed and technology-driven mechanisms to enhance exam quality and transparency.

The briefing covered key reforms like SLO-based examinations, rubric-based assessments, e-marking, digital examination services, and real-time monitoring. Discussions also revolved around developing quality assessments, standardizing marking, and enhancing examination security using technology. The potential role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in examination processes was highlighted, focusing on improving efficiency and quality assurance while ensuring academic integrity.

FBISE’s future plans include creating a pool of certified examiners to maintain consistency and professional standards. Chairman Malik emphasized the significance of modern assessment practices in evaluating students’ competencies and critical thinking skills.

The Punjab Chairpersons expressed interest in adopting FBISE’s practices and appreciated the reforms. Chairman Malik assured support, including sharing expertise and software solutions. The visit concluded with a tour of FBISE departments, where the delegation observed examination processes. Both parties committed to ongoing collaboration to enhance Pakistan’s examination systems.
