Punjab and Federal Ministers Discuss Minority Rights and Interfaith Harmony


Islamabad: Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, the Punjab Minister for Minorities Affairs, met with Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, the Federal Minister for Law and Justice and Human Rights, in Islamabad to discuss minority welfare and interfaith harmony. The meeting, attended also by Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik, focused on enhancing cooperation between the federal and provincial governments to promote inclusion and social cohesion.



According to Press Information Department, the ministers exchanged views on strengthening human rights protection across the country. Senator Tarar highlighted the need for collective efforts to ensure all citizens, regardless of faith or background, can participate fully in national life. He reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting tolerance, respect for diversity, and equal rights.



Sardar Arora expressed appreciation for the collaboration between the governments, noting recent progress in minority rights and child protection, such as the enactment of the Child Marriage Restraint Act. He emphasized the importance of sustained coordination to advance inclusion and social harmony. Both sides agreed to maintain close cooperation on mutual interests and reaffirmed their commitment to fostering an inclusive and rights-based society.
