New York: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, participated in a ceremony at the UN headquarters commemorating the International Day of UN Peacekeepers. The event highlighted the contributions of peacekeepers around the globe and recognized their service and sacrifices.
According to Radio Pakistan, the ceremony included the posthumous award of the Dag Hammarskjöld Medal to 68 fallen peacekeepers and the presentation of the Captain Mbaye Diagne Medal for Exceptional Courage. UN Secretary-General António Guterres led the proceedings, presenting the awards and overseeing a solemn minute of silence to honor those who lost their lives in pursuit of peace.
