Lahore: In a display of extensive security measures, the Punjab Police deployed more than 7,000 officers and personnel to ensure a secure environment during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 final match, held at Qaddafi Stadium. The match between Hyderabad Kingsmen and Peshawar Zalmi provided a safe atmosphere for players, officials, and cricket fans.
According to Punjab Police, Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem directed comprehensive security arrangements for the event. The police force, along with local and foreign players and officials, was vigilant in maintaining peace. Supervisory officers were instructed to oversee all security and traffic management arrangements. The police personnel at duty points remained alert to any suspicious activities.
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem emphasized the coordination with district administration, security agencies, and relevant departments to ensure the event’s peaceful conduct. Teams from the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU), and Elite Force patrolled around the teams’ routes and the stadium. Additionally, search, sweep, and combing operations, as well as intelligence-based operations, were conducted around key locations. CCTV cameras monitored the stadium and surrounding areas, while snipers were positioned on high-rise buildings. Traffic advisories were issued to facilitate smooth traffic flow, enabling cricket fans to enjoy the match with police cooperation.
