Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary, met with the inaugural group of agriculture scholarship recipients at Islamabad International Airport today as they prepared to leave for China. This group is part of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s initiative aimed at enhancing the agriculture sector. The students will engage in advanced training in agricultural sciences and technologies at prominent Chinese universities.
During the meeting, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal described the students as future leaders in Pakistan’s agricultural development. He emphasized that this training is not just an academic pursuit but a new chapter in national progress.
Prof. Iqbal urged the students to embrace China’s advanced technologies, research, and practical experiences. He expressed hope that upon their return, they would contribute to innovation and sustainability in Pakistan’s agriculture sector.
The Minister encouraged the students to focus on acquiring knowledge and to learn from China’s research culture and expertise, pledging to use their skills for advancing agriculture in Pakistan.
This initiative plans to send 1,000 agriculture graduates to top Chinese universities for training in nine key agricultural fields. The first group of 300 students is departing today, marking a significant step toward modernizing Pakistan’s agricultural economy.
