New York: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with President of the Syrian Arab Republic, H.E. Ahmed al-Sharaa, on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The meeting focused on reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to its historic relations with Syria and exploring avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation.
According to Press Information Department, Prime Minister Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s support for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, expressing good wishes for the Syrian people in their pursuit of national stabilization, peace, and economic recovery. The leaders discussed enhancing relations through high-level exchanges and collaboration in trade, education, and information technology.
Sharif emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy, in line with UN Charter principles, for regional peace. He also expressed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian right to self-determination, advocating for a resolution based on UN resolutions and international law.
The meeting underscored the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Syria, setting the stage for continued cooperation in the future.
