Islamabad: A parliamentary delegation from the Maldives People’s Majlis, headed by H.E. Ibrahim Shujau, Senior Deputy Leader of the PNC Parliamentary Group, met with the Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, in Islamabad, to discuss potential collaborations in the technology sector.

According to Press Information Department, Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja extended a warm welcome to the delegation and provided an overview of Pakistan’s growing ICT sector, including workforce development and digital public infrastructure. She emphasized the strong bilateral ties between Pakistan and the Maldives, which she described as a solid foundation for enhancing cooperation in information technology and emerging technologies.

The discussions focused on collaboration opportunities in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital public infrastructure, and financial technology. Both parties also explored possibilities for capacity building and the exchange of institutional knowledge.

The Maldivian delegation acknowledged Pakistan’s advancements in the digital sector and showed interest in further expanding cooperation in IT and emerging technologies. The meeting concluded with a mutual dedication to strengthening the ties between Pakistan and the Maldives, particularly in the field of information technology.
