Prime Minister Kakar Participates in 3rd Belt and Road Forum in China

Islamabad, 16 Oct 2023: Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has touched down in China to partake in the ‘3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.’ Greeted by the Chinese Minister of Science and Technology, Wang Zhigang, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, and Pakistan’s Envoy to China, Moin-ul-Haq, the Prime Minister’s visit is a direct response to an invitation from China’s President, Xi Jinping.

Leading a delegation comprising cabinet members and top government officials, PM Kakar is slated to attend the BRF’s opening ceremony and deliver a keynote speech at the High-Level Forum. Further scheduled engagements encompass bilateral dialogues with prominent Chinese officials, including President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. The meetings will underscore the enhancement of trade and economic ties. Kakar will also engage with other international leaders attending the BRF and conduct sessions with top-tier Chinese business magnates to discuss the expansion of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

An extension of the Prime Minister’s trip involves a two-day tour to Urumqi, located in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China, aimed at reinforcing ties between the neighbouring regions. Here, local leadership exchanges and a speech at the Xinjiang University are on the itinerary. The visit is timely, coinciding with the decade-long celebration of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor. The press release was issues by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
