Muzaffarabad: Preparations for Kashmir Solidarity Day, slated for February 5, are intensifying across Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) as people prepare to demonstrate their solidarity with those in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, political parties, activists, and the general public have pledged ongoing support for the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, which has been denied by India for 78 years. This year’s observance comes amid a challenging period, with the situation in IIOJK remaining tense following India’s revocation of the territory’s special status on August 5, 2019.
Preparations are in the final stages to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day with the customary zeal that marks this annual event. February 5 will be a state holiday across Pakistan and AJK, as both regions unite to affirm their commitment to the people of IIOJK. The day will feature mass rallies, symposia, peace walks, conventions, and speech competitions to emphasize the importance of Kashmir’s freedom.
Several religious and political parties have committed to participating in rallies and demonstrations, aiming to keep international attention on the plight of Kashmiris under Indian occupation.
Posters have also been displayed across Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir Valley, expressing gratitude to Pakistan for its steadfast support of the Kashmiri people, who continue to face challenges in IIOJK. These posters have appeared in anticipation of Kashmir Solidarity Day.
