Srinagar: Senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader Agha Syed Hassan Al Moosvi Al Safvi has condemned the proposed Waqf Amendment Bill, labeling it a conspiracy against Muslims and an infringement on their religious rights.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, Agha Hassan, who is also President of Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman Sharia Shian, expressed these views while addressing a religious gathering in Budgam. He criticized the bill as a direct interference in Islam, suggesting it could undermine Muslim identity and affect religious institutions and the community’s worship rights.
Agha Hassan emphasized that the bill represents more than a legal challenge, describing it as an attack on faith and fundamental rights. He accused the Modi government of attempting to encroach on religious practices under the pretense of legislation, urging the Muslim community to resist the bill.
The Waqf Amendment Bill has been met with significant opposition, with Indian opposition parties and minority groups accusing the BJP-led government of seeking to undermine Muslim rights. Critics argue that the bill could lead to increased government control over Waqf properties, potentially sidelining the interests of the Muslim community.
