Srinagar, July 01, 2023 (PPI-OT):In an attempt by the Modi regime to show heavy presence of Hindus everywhere in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the 62-day-long annual Amarnath Yatra commenced on Saturday to the cave located at Pahlgam in Islamabad district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The first batch of yatris was launched from the Nunwan Base camp, a small village three kilometers away from Pahlgam towards Chandanwadi at Pahlgam, amid intensified restrictions. Ahead of the Amarnath Yatra, additional 85 Central Reserve Police Force companies were inducted into occupied Jammu and Kashmir in the name of ensuring safety to the yatris.
Amid multi-layer security, the first batch of more than 3,400 pilgrims left for the twin base camps in Kashmir to undertake the onward journey to the 3,880-metre-high cave shrine of Lord Shiva in the south Kashmir. The pilgrims were escorted by CRPF troopers with area domination being done by the Army and police on the highway.
