Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has mandated that power load shedding across the country be restricted to a maximum of two hours in any given area. This directive comes in response to increasing load shedding concerns, as outlined during a significant meeting on power load management chaired by the Prime Minister.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting revealed that power generation has been adversely affected due to regional tensions, specifically in the Strait of Hormuz, and supply chain disruptions impacting RLNG. These factors have necessitated a strategic approach to managing the balance between electricity demand and supply.

Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the need for immediate action to address RLNG supply disruptions and called for the optimal use of available resources to maintain the load shedding limit. Furthermore, he instructed the formation of Consumer Grievance Redressal Committees at the DISCOs’ level to manage public complaints related to electricity supply. These committees, which are to include public representatives, are to be operational within a week.

The meeting also highlighted that consumers can report issues via helpline 118, where they receive a token number and an estimated resolution timeframe. It was noted that, except for six consumers in Rajanpur district, the monsoon rains have not disrupted electricity supply nationwide.
