Islamabad: Efforts are being made to ease the financial burden on power consumers through a series of measures aimed at reducing sector inefficiencies and costs, Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari announced during a meeting in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the minister addressed a delegation from the Pakistan Business Council, led by CEO Javed Kureishi, emphasizing that efforts to reduce losses within distribution companies have resulted in savings of 265 billion rupees over the past two years. Leghari highlighted the government’s commitment to increasing electricity demand, optimizing generation capacity, and minimizing power sector costs as part of its broader reform strategy.

The minister also mentioned that feasibility studies have been completed for converting imported coal-based power plants to local coal, underscoring the government’s focus on sustainable energy solutions.
