PM Shehbaz Sharif Encourages Norwegian Investment in Pakistan’s Oil and Gas Sector

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended an invitation to Norwegian companies to invest in the oil and gas exploration sector in Pakistan. This development was announced during a meeting with Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Espen Barth Eide, who visited Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the dialogue highlighted the cordial ties between Pakistan and Norway, with Prime Minister Sharif expressing a strong desire to enhance bilateral trade. He acknowledged Norway’s cooperation in areas such as education, skilled labor, climate resilience, and technology. The discussion also covered regional and global issues, with the Prime Minister commending Norway’s supportive stance on Palestine and its efforts towards peace in the Gulf region.

The Norwegian Foreign Minister thanked Prime Minister Sharif for the reception and conveyed the good wishes from Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. He acknowledged Pakistan’s significant role in regional peace efforts and emphasized Norway’s interest in strengthening bilateral relations across various sectors. The contribution of the Pakistani diaspora in Norway was also highlighted.

Additionally, Prime Minister Sharif extended an invitation to the Norwegian Prime Minister for an official visit to Pakistan, signaling a commitment to deepening ties between the two nations.
