Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a telephonic conversation with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, focusing on the importance of dialogue and cooperation between their nations. The call, described as warm and cordial, highlighted mutual interests and regional developments.
According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Sharif congratulated President Tokayev on the successful constitutional referendum in Kazakhstan, emphasizing the high turnout as a testament to the populace’s trust in Tokayev’s leadership and reform agenda. The Prime Minister expressed optimism that these reforms would bolster governance and national development in Kazakhstan.
During the conversation, Prime Minister Sharif reassured President Tokayev of Pakistan’s commitment to the initiatives discussed during the Kazakh president’s recent visit to Pakistan. The leaders agreed on the importance of organizing a meeting soon to finalize proposed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements.
The dialogue also included an exchange of views on regional issues, with Afghanistan being a focal point. Both leaders underscored the necessity of promoting dialogue, cooperation, and connectivity for the prosperity of the region. In a post on his social media platform, X, the Prime Minister reiterated the commitment to enhancing Pakistan-Kazakhstan relations, particularly in the realms of trade, connectivity, and regional cooperation.
