Ambassador Khorev Discusses Ukraine Conflict With Pakistani Media

Islamabad: Ambassador Albert P. Khorev presented Russia’s perspective on the ongoing Ukrainian conflict during a briefing with Pakistani media outlets on March 17, 2026. The Ambassador emphasized that Russia views the conflict as a confrontation with Western powers rather than a direct dispute with Ukraine and stressed the importance of a multipolar world order.

According to Embassy of The Russian Federation, Khorev outlined Russia’s position on several issues, including the increase in Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory, the ongoing peace talks, and the safety of strategic locations like the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant. He described recent Ukrainian military actions and accused Western countries of undermining peace efforts by supporting Kiev. Khorev also highlighted discussions for a potential ceasefire and reiterated Russia’s commitment to a negotiated solution, contingent on addressing the root causes of the conflict.

The briefing also covered the geopolitical implications of the conflict, with Russia expressing openness to dialogue while criticizing European and Western actions as obstacles to peace. Khorev noted the importance of recent negotiations, including the Anchorage Summit between Presidents Putin and Trump, and expressed regret over the lack of a formal response from the United States regarding nuclear arms agreements. The Ambassador concluded by emphasizing Russia’s willingness to collaborate on stabilizing the strategic situation, provided that conditions for equitable cooperation are established.
