Lahore: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has given the green light to five significant development projects with a combined budget exceeding Rs 12 billion in its latest meeting. The projects include reconstruction of a major road, zoo revamping, and construction of joint check posts, marking a substantial investment in infrastructure and public facilities.
According to a statement by Planning and Development Board – Punjab, the 67th meeting of the fiscal year 2024-25 was led by Chairman Barrister Nabeel Ahmad Awan. The meeting resulted in the approval of Rs 12,058.54 million for the development initiatives.
The most significant allocation of Rs 6,946.258 million is earmarked for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the G.T Road from Quaid-e-Azam Interchange to the Wahga Border in Lahore. This project aims to improve connectivity and traffic flow in the region.
Additionally, the Lahore Zoo will undergo a revamp at a cost of Rs 2,034.648 million, aiming to enhance the facility for visitors and improve animal habitats.
Furthermore, the construction of Inter-Provincial Joint Check Posts (IPJCP) will take place at three locations in Punjab: Attock Khurd, Dajal in District Bhakkar, and Ghazi Ghat in District Dera Ghazi Khan. These projects are budgeted at Rs 1,009.628 million, Rs 1,182.882 million, and Rs 885.124 million, respectively.
The meeting, attended by Secretary P and D Board Dr. Asif Tufail, Chief Economist Mr. Masood Anwar, and other senior officers, reflects the government’s commitment to advancing infrastructure development in the province.
