Lahore: Parliament will play a central role in determining the future of new administrative provinces, as the decision on holding a referendum will be taken during a joint parliamentary session, rather than by the government alone. Rana Sanaullah Khan, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, emphasized this during a discussion with journalists in Lahore.
According to Radio Pakistan, Khan highlighted the importance of Parliament as the appropriate forum for debating the establishment of new administrative units. He also addressed the right to peaceful political protest, affirming that while such activities are a democratic right, any form of vandalism or violent protest would be strictly prohibited.
