ISLAMABAD: Caves and karst landscapes, crucial to the planet’s ecosystem and human survival, are being celebrated today on the International Day of Caves and Karst. These landscapes cover almost 25% of the Earth’s surface and are vital sources of drinking water for over a billion people.
According to Radio Pakistan: The theme for this year’s observance, “Explore, Understand and Protect: Towards Sustainable Management of Caves and Karst,” emphasizes the need for sustainable practices. The day aims to raise awareness about the importance of these natural formations and the benefits they provide to the environment and humanity.
