Pakistan’s President Alvi Praises ICJ Ruling on Genocide Prevention in Gaza

Islamabad, President Dr. Arif Alvi of Pakistan has expressed his approval of the recent International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling concerning the prevention and punishment of genocide in Gaza. The President emphasized the significance of the judgment and its implications for the protection of innocent civilians in the region.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Alvi called the ICJ’s decision an “outstanding judgment” and urged Israel to immediately halt the genocide and violence against civilians in Gaza. He highlighted the court’s directive to Israel to adhere to its obligations under the Genocide Convention, particularly regarding the prevention of acts that could be categorized under Article II of the Convention.

The President also lauded the ICJ’s emphasis on Israel’s responsibility to ensure the provision of essential services and humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in Gaza. He pointed out that the ruling sheds light on the harsh realities faced by the Palestinian people, condemning the acts of violence and barbarism perpetrated by Israel, especially against vulnerable groups including women, children, and hospital patients.

President Alvi’s remarks reflect Pakistan’s stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict and underscore the international community’s growing concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza. The ruling by the ICJ represents a significant moment in international law and human rights advocacy, particularly in the context of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
