Islamabad: The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) conducted a comprehensive meeting to evaluate the progress of reforms and development initiatives in Pakistan’s health and pharmaceutical sectors. The session, jointly chaired by the Federal Minister for Health and the Director General of SIFC, was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination, DRAP, DESTO, PN&MC, NIH (Vaccination & Immunisation), and the Ministry of Commerce.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting focused on initiatives designed to enhance domestic health-sector capabilities, improve regulatory and institutional coordination, and unlock investment and export opportunities. Key topics included indigenous vaccine production, the plasma fractionation project, national policy formulation, the implementation of a drug track-and-trace system, and the development of the health sector’s export potential.
The participants discussed measures to accelerate implementation through coordinated efforts among relevant institutions. SIFC emphasized the importance of translating identified opportunities and reforms into concrete outcomes while facilitating an environment conducive to investment, local production, technology development, and value addition in the health and pharmaceutical sectors.
The meeting reaffirmed the coordinated approach under the SIFC framework to advance priority health-sector initiatives, strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities, and enhance the international competitiveness and export potential of Pakistan’s health and pharmaceutical industry.
