Islamabad: Pakistan’s diplomatic intervention has reportedly played a key role in facilitating a ceasefire between Iran and the United States, according to Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan. Sanaullah emphasized the significance of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts during a Senate discussion on the regional situation, noting that the move has garnered widespread recognition for the country.
According to Radio Pakistan, Sanaullah highlighted that the ceasefire not only halted aggression against Iran but also prevented potential regional devastation. He commended the national leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for their efforts in achieving the ceasefire. Sanaullah also called on the opposition to show unity by turning their protest calls into a day of thanksgiving and supporting the success of the Islamabad talks.
Opposition Leader Raja Nasir Abbas expressed support for the dialogue set to take place in Islamabad, while urging caution against possible disruptions. Syed Ali Zafar stressed the importance of the ceasefire for Iran, the Arab countries, and the broader Muslim community, warning of Israel’s potential attempts to undermine the peace.
Sherry Rehman emphasized the national consensus backing Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts and called for global unity to stabilize the ceasefire. Pervaiz Rashid and Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar both praised the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his team for their roles in securing the ceasefire, with Kakar describing the day as a notable moment in Pakistan’s diplomatic history.
Kamran Murtaza also acknowledged the contributions of key officials, underscoring the importance of this development for peace in the region.
