Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has lauded the recent ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, describing it as a crucial development that paves the way for dialogue and a more stable regional environment. He highlighted the importance of peace as a foundation for security, economic stability, and the well-being of people across interconnected regions.
According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari noted that Pakistan has consistently worked towards de-escalation in the region for the greater good of humanity, particularly when tensions were approaching a critical point. He expressed appreciation for the leadership in Washington and Tehran for choosing dialogue over conflict and commended the efforts of the leadership in Islamabad, particularly Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defence Forces, and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, among others.
President Zardari acknowledged the contributions of various countries, including Saudi Arabia, China, Egypt, Türkiye, and Russia, for their supportive roles in fostering calm and encouraging dialogue. He emphasized that the ceasefire should be consolidated through ongoing dialogue and confidence-building measures, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peace and stability.
