Islamabad: Pakistan’s Minister for Information Technology, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, announced the government’s commitment to empowering the nation’s youth through a comprehensive digital transformation initiative. Speaking at the ‘Leaders in Islamabad Business Summit,’ Khawaja emphasized the importance of equipping young people with employable skills via technology-driven education.
The minister outlined plans to train the youth in various tech courses, ensuring they are equipped with skills relevant to the current job market. She highlighted that technology would be used to broaden access to skill development programs, benefitting a larger segment of the population.
Khawaja also announced that Pakistan will host a two-day Digital Foreign Direct Investment Summit this month. The event, organized in collaboration with the Digital Corporation Organization of Saudi Arabia, is expected to attract over three hundred international participants.
Further developments include the anticipated inauguration of an IT Park in Islamabad on August 14th, and plans for another IT park in South Punjab. These initiatives are part of broader efforts to enhance the country’s IT infrastructure.
In a separate event, Khawaja reiterated the government’s focus on digital literacy, revealing plans to establish two hundred and fifty e-rozgaar centers nationwide this year. These centers aim to provide digital skills training, further supporting the government’s objective of youth empowerment.
