Pakistani and British Ministers Discuss Enhanced Cooperation in Security and Counter-Terrorism


Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and British Minister for Faith, Communities, and Resettlement Lord Wajid Khan met to discuss strengthening Pakistan-UK relations, with a focus on counter-terrorism and security cooperation. The meeting highlighted the importance of international support for Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism.



The meeting, attended by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, and Interior Secretary Muhammad Khurram Agha, covered various aspects of bilateral ties, including efforts to prevent cross-border crimes.



Mohsin Naqvi emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing collaboration with the UK in areas of mutual interest. He underscored the significance of international backing for Pakistan’s anti-terrorism initiatives and highlighted the critical role of the UK.



Lord Wajid Khan condemned the attack on the Jaffar Express, extending condolences to the victims’ families. He recognized Pakistan’s contributions and sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism. Naqvi noted that Pakistan’s security forces serve as a global example due to their sacrifices.



Discussions also included the smooth repatriation of illegal foreign nationals, which Naqvi stated is being conducted with respect and dignity. He assured that no action is being taken against those with valid documents. Talal Chaudhry added that facilities are being provided to illegal foreign nationals during the repatriation process.



Lord Wajid Khan expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s assistance in relocating Afghan refugees to the UK, underscoring the mutual benefits of cooperation between the two nations.
