Pakistan Urges Sustained Support for UN Peacekeeping Operations Amid Changing Global Security Environment


NEW YORK: Pakistan has urged the international community to offer enduring political support to ensure that United Nations peacekeeping operations remain effective and relevant in the face of evolving global security challenges. This call was made by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, during a Security Council debate on United Nations Peacekeeping Operations.



According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Ahmad emphasized the necessity for the United Nations to equip itself today for the peacekeeping capabilities required in the future. He underscored Pakistan’s significant contributions to UN peacekeeping missions, noting that over 170,000 Pakistani peacekeepers have served under the UN flag, with 183 losing their lives in the pursuit of peace.
