Lahore: Pakistan is set to launch its first 32-kilometer trunk sewer project using modern trenchless technology, aimed at improving Lahore’s drainage system. The $155 million initiative, announced at a signing ceremony attended by Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin, is expected to enhance the infrastructure in key areas of the city and benefit approximately 2.35 million residents.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the Lahore Wastewater and Drainage Management Project will see the construction of a modern disposal station with a capacity of 848 cusecs. The project aims to protect Central Lahore from contaminated wastewater discharge into open drains and includes the rehabilitation of several drainage channels.
