Pakistan seeks Chinese investment to upgrade diverse sectors: Ahsan

Islamabad, July 17, 2023 (PPI-OT): Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal says Pakistan is seeking Chinese investment to upgrade its agriculture, IT, mining and housing sectors. Talking to APP, he said work is underway on nine special economic zones in the country, which will provide an opportunity to Chinese investors to take advantage of incentives offered by Pakistan. The Planning Minister said the first Rashkai Special Economic Zone will be inaugurated later this month while the other economic zones in Sindh, Punjab, and Baluchistan are also in advanced stages.

He said due to CPEC framework and having a very good infrastructure, Pakistan is a very attractive destination for Chinese enterprises to relocate to these economic zones. He said several Chinese companies have already invested in Gwadar free economic zone while many other Chinese companies are coming to Pakistan.
