High-Level Russian Delegation Visits NDMA Headquarters in Islamabad


Islamabad: A high-level defence delegation from the Russian Federation, led by Lieutenant General Iskuskov Oleg Ivanovich, Deputy Chief of the National Defence Management Center, visited the National Emergencies Operation Center at the National Disaster Management Authority Headquarters in Islamabad.



According to Press Information Department, the delegation, which included senior military officials, was briefed on the operational capabilities of the NEOC and NDMA’s disaster management framework. The briefing highlighted Pakistan’s shift towards proactive disaster risk management using advanced technologies and data-driven decision-making to enhance resilience against various hazards.



Chairman of NDMA, Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, discussed the initiatives to improve disaster preparedness, early warning mechanisms, and coordination among stakeholders. The delegation was informed about NDMA’s efforts in engaging with national and provincial authorities, humanitarian partners, and international organizations to bolster disaster response.



The session included a presentation of “Disaster Lens 2026” and insights into the Comprehensive International Simulation Exercises, emphasizing Pakistan’s focus on preparedness and innovation. The Russian delegation expressed appreciation for NDMA’s approach and both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in disaster risk reduction and emergency preparedness.



The visit concluded with a commitment to strengthen institutional linkages and promote collaborative efforts to tackle challenges associated with climate change and complex disasters.
