Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a telephone conversation with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar. The discussion revolved around the successful diplomatic efforts leading to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the U.S. and Iran, with the Amir expressing support for Pakistan’s role in the peace process.
According to Press Information Department, the Amir congratulated the Prime Minister on Pakistan’s diplomatic achievements and expressed Qatar’s full support for the ongoing peace efforts. The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for Qatar’s steadfast support, acknowledging the contributions of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and other allied nations in the peace process.
The leaders expressed satisfaction with the initial technical talks in Burgenstock, emphasizing the importance of maintaining positive momentum and protecting the negotiations from any potential setbacks. Additionally, the Amir extended condolences over the death of a Pakistani national in a fire incident at the Barzan gas facility, acknowledging the significant Pakistani community in Qatar.
The conversation also included the Prime Minister’s invitation for the Amir to visit Pakistan, which the Amir welcomed, indicating plans to discuss further bilateral cooperation and regional issues. Both leaders committed to continued cooperation and coordination between their nations in the near future.
