Islamabad: Pakistan has reiterated its dedication to transforming its agrifood systems to be more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable. Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain emphasized this commitment during the 38th Ministerial Session of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) held in Brunei Darussalam.
According to Radio Pakistan, Minister Hussain detailed Pakistan’s ongoing collaboration with FAO to modernize its agrifood systems. Efforts include improved water management, diversified cropping patterns, and the adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices. He underscored the growing role of innovation in the sector, highlighting the use of digital technologies, data-driven advisory systems, and precision agriculture aimed at boosting productivity and resource efficiency.
The Minister also noted Pakistan’s strategy to move from fragmented initiatives to coordinated and data-informed investment strategies, which aim to attract public and private financing. Stressing the importance of regional cooperation, Rana Tanveer Hussain called for collaborative efforts in achieving agrifood transformation.
