Islamabad: Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, engaged with Professor Anas A. Al-Nabulsi, Chairperson of the UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS), during the 38th Session of the FAO Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific in Empire Brunei. The meeting aimed to address food insecurity and environmental challenges in the Asia and Pacific region by enhancing collaboration on resilient food systems.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting highlighted Pakistan’s active role within the CFS framework, aligning national policies with the Committee’s guidance to improve food security. Discussions emphasized the significance of adopting CFS policy recommendations at the national level, stressing inclusive governance and cross-sector collaboration. The CFS Chairperson noted the need for sustainable financing and evidence-based policymaking to transform food systems effectively.
The dialogue also involved Pakistan’s participation in developing global policy recommendations for resilient food systems. The Minister and the Chairperson recognized research and technology’s role in advancing agriculture, with plans for Pakistan to engage in related negotiations.
Further discussions reviewed upcoming CFS initiatives, including the High-Level Forum on Artificial Intelligence and ongoing policy work. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to translating global guidance into practical outcomes to ensure sustainable food systems in Pakistan.
