Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to Combat Torture at UN Session


GENEVA: Pakistan’s delegation, led by Barrister Aqeel Malik, Minister of State for Law and Justice, participated in the 84th Session of the UN Committee Against Torture (CAT), highlighting the country’s progress and dedication to eradicating torture. The delegation reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to legal reforms and institutional accountability in alignment with international human rights standards.



According to Ministry of Human Rights, the delegation included key figures such as Mr Abdul Khalique Shaikh, Secretary of the Ministry of Human Rights; Mr Muhammad Arshad, Director General of the Ministry of Human Rights; Ms Rabbea Hadi, Director General CPI; Mr Mian Farooq Nazeer, IG Prisons Punjab; and Dr Muhammad Arif, Director of the Ministry of Human Rights. The team engaged in a dialogue to present Pakistan’s advancements in safeguarding human dignity and pledged continued collaboration with global entities to uphold its human rights obligations.
